Our Founder & President

KENNY TORRES

A decade ago, Kenny Torres was working in banking — and miserable. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in poverty on Cleveland’s West Side, he wanted to give back to the community where he grew up. Determined to make a difference, he left financial services, returned to school, and eventually found his calling in bridging the gap between Hispanic neighborhoods and the construction trades.

Today, Torres is the founder of KT & Company, a newly established HVAC subcontractor. His journey has been fueled by a passion for Latino entrepreneurship and a commitment to training young talent. With a focus on addressing the labor shortage and creating pathways to careers, KT & Company is dedicated to empowering the next generation of construction professionals.

Before launching KT& Company, Torres was a field operations manager at the Gilbane Building Company and the program director for the Spanish American Committee, a nonprofit social services agency. There, he helped to launch and oversee the Latino Construction Program, a six-week pre-apprenticeship course that has placed close to 150 people in the trades since 2017. Graduates of the program contributed to building the MetroHealth System’s new hospital tower in Cleveland’s Clark-Fulton neighborhood.

Torres's dedication extends beyond his company. He continues to teach, planning classes to help Latino entrepreneurs start construction businesses. He also serves as a board member for a union job-readiness program and is a founder of Rising Hispanic Professionals, a group focused on fields such as architecture and engineering. Torres champions efforts to broaden access to the construction industry, driven by his belief in the transformative power of education.
